San Franciscan House

My oldest daughter, Karen, wanted to build a house for her god-daughter and asked for my help.  This was her first involvement with minis, but I think she too is now hooked!  The fence here is also made from popscicle sticks and varanda posts cut to length.  The tree is a silk limb.  I wrapped strips of newspaper around the wire stem to form the trunk. The shrubs are made from lichen, the walkway is sand and white glue with a little grey paint mixed and spread into shape, and lined with small silk flowers which I touched up with the Tulip Fabric dye.

All of the furniture is made from one kit. The large Greenleaf victorian kit, except the nursery and the bathroom. The rooms are so small that all of the furniture included in this kit would not fit into the house.

This is the living room, the sofa and chair are covered with velvet. I marblized the coffee table top..

This is the kitchen made from the Greenleaf kit.  I used a paper punch and cardstock to make the round part of the stove knobs and 1/8 inch stripwood to make the stove and refrigator handles, the burners on the stove are made from florist wire shaped like gas burners painted black and glued in place.
