Farm House

I was finishing up the small victorian and my birthday was coming up.  My husband asked what I would like to have?  My response.....you guessed it!  A dollhouse!
He thought I was out of my mind, but we went shopping.  I picked out the Farm house by Dura-Craft.
My job required that I travel monday thru friday. I carried the instruction booklet with me for weeks.  The first thing I did after checking into my motel, was get out the yellow pages and look for the miniature/dollhouse shops. I wrote down the address and would get directions from someone at work the next day.  Then in the evenings I would get out the instructions and some paper and draw out some plans.  I decided to order extra material and extend the width of the house 6 inches so I could move the staircase from the center of the house.  This also gave me the extra side porch.

I had my husband cut a scrap piece of 1x4 pine into thin strips for the flooring and the kitchen wainscoting.  It made perfect pine planks.  I stained them, then on the floor I rubbed in 3 coats of car wax.  I mixed some cigarette ashes with the wax in some places to give a worn floor look.
This furniture is from a Chrysnbon kit.

I also had my husband to cut some strips 3/4 inch thick from the 1x4 piece a pine then cut in half lenghtwise to make the ceiling beams.  I used a craft knife to gouge and scrape to make them look hand hewn.  This furniture was also a Realife kit in progress.

The sink and stove are part of a Realife kit.
