ODDS AND ENDS

I found that embroidered ribbon makes perfect little needlework seats...
Coat the back of the ribbon with tacky glue, let dry, then cut out the design you want, apply thin coat of tacky glue and press into place.....

I wanted a marble top for the little coffee table....but did not want to fool with the feathering or fine brushing...lazy!!!
So I decided to play around with swirling and dripping paint...
If it didn't work, I could always sand it and start over!!!
Came out with a pretty good effect!!!
I first painted the top with semi-gloss white paint, let dry, rubbed lightly with fine sandpaper, til smooth and slick, applied a second coat of paint and while still wet, took a fine paint paint brush and dripped black acrylic on one side of the top and tilted in the direction I wanted it to vein and added a drop of water to the black, this not only made it run but provided the shading at the same time...
I have since made 2 more using this method...

Here I have used the paper doilies again...this time for the medallions on the doors of this wardrobe.
I used 3 layers of the doillies, not seperated, placed them on some wax paper and stained the same as the wood on the doors, let dry, applied thin coat of white glue to the back and carefully placed them on the doors, used a toothpick to lightly press into place, following the design, after dry, applied varnish to the entire piece...
